Royale Chulan Ramadhan Buffet

It was Nuzul Al-Quran day (17th August) that my company treated all of us to this Buka Puasa buffet at Royale Chulan.

I guess all tables on that evening was fully booked. There were many other people from different companies. And there are lots of food variety too, that i couldn't manage to taste all.

The main dishes: Chicken, Beef, Prawn, etc..with all the middle east dish name which i don't understand.

The appetizer: "Lok-lok" (something like satay), "Aneka Kerabu"- Variety of salad, "Jeruk Buah" - pickled fruits, etc..
I like the salad very much, some with local malay taste and some with thailand taste.

The noodle station was like all-in-one, where you can any type you want: Mee Bandung, laksa, curry etc, I can't remember all.
Some traditional malay food such as "satay", "ketupat", "lemang", "Gulai Kari", "ulam ulaman"- raw vegetables, etc..

Western and Malaysian Pastry: Bread with mushroom soup, Kebab, Roti John, pizza.
I love the fresh mushroom on the pizza very much.

Other delicacies such as Roasted lamb, "Ikan bakar"- grilled fish, Grilled seafood, etc.

There was also fresh shashimi at the small japanese food counter.

Dessert was quite interesting: Chocolate fountain, over 50 bottles of traditional raya cookies for your choices, malay kuih and western cake, fresh local fruits, etc.
I was excited to see over 100 types of ingredient for Ice Kacang! It looked colourful and tempting, but i don't have enough space for this.

Dessert is my favourite. There were so many choices of cakes, tarts, western dessert, especially cheese cake. I should have tried these earlier before the stomach got full.

The price for this Ramadan buffet is RM 99 nett for adults and RM 49 nett for senior citizen and children.
If you come with an empty and elastic stomach, you can try all the food. But don't expect all to be above your expectation level. For variety wise, yes, this is so far the buffet that i had with the most choices including local and western style.

My First Macaron~~

Thanks my prince for the Macaron! It's my first real-french-recipe Macaron in my life, yummy yummy.

When you bite on a Macaron, it should be crispy on the outer shell, with creamy chewy sweet filling. Macaron is a french confectionery made from egg whites, icing sugar, granulated sugar and almond powder. Sounds simple, right? But there should be some key points to make the best macaron.

~The Macaron~

Yummy yummy, he also bought me a cute cupcake.
~Red Velvet cupcake with lemon cream cheese frosting~

I am still wondering what the red velvet is actually made of. Colouring? natural fruits? I have no ideas.

Chillis: One Utama

A few of us went to have a light dinner at Chilis, One Utama.

We ordered portion for 2, plus a side order- mashed potato, and it's just nice for 4 of us. Wow, the portion for 1 person is quite big actually. The "Nacho" is special, and the mashed potato (although with skin) is delicious! It may due to the big portion of mashed potato is made of real and natural potatoes.

Singapore Food: Mun Kee Honeymoon Dessert

Like the name, i feel sweet like honeymoon-ing, trying so many types of special dessert.
It took us very long to order, there were so many different types of dessert listed on both the pages!

Can't wait for the dessert! Although it took us half an hour for the long queue, it's worth!
Let me introduce our order, but wait, there were so many choices that i can't remember all the exact name!

Vanila ice-cream with herbal jelly, trust me, it's not that sweet!

Fruits with vanila ice-cream and frog-egg,

This is the must-order, my favourite! Black glutinous rice with mango and vanila,

Special Beancurb with Pomelo vanila juice and mango,

Beancurd filled with mixed fruits,

Red bean soup with vanila ice-cream, a simple one, but still nice!

Tong-Bat-Lat. Glutinous rice mixed with peanut and sugar,

All these look nice, but they are just displayed food and not edible. But i think they look quite tempting!

I highly recommend this shop, as they serve fresh and standard tong sui. Most importantly, all the tong sui tasted just nice, not too sweet, and it's definitely better for your health compared to the sweet one.

Singapore Food: Dian Xiao Er Roasted Duck

Dian Xiao Er, i don't understand what it exactly means, but i know they serve special roasted duck sauce!

This is their attraction, readily roasted duck in front of the shop. The Xiao-er-ge will chop the duck when you make any order. (Xiao-er: That was how my friend addressed the waiter and he answered him!)

We ordered a set of few dishes, which came with a small bowl of soup and rice for everyone and of course, consisted of the special roasted duck.

And this is the main character- Dian Xiao Er Roasted Duck!

At the side of the roasted duck, that is the special sauce: Ten wonder herbal sauce! We also tried on the Ginseng herbal Sauce. Both are marvelous! I was thinking, i should have brought the sauce home so that my mother can start to experiment on how to make it!

I think i should love the roasted duck, not the sauce, but i still love the special sauce! Thanks to my cousin for the treat, specially arranged to welcome me. I will surely miss it when i am back to Malaysia.

Singapore Food: Jollibean

I had Jollibean drink at Changi Airport. I found from their website that they have lots of kiosk in Singapore, i didn't count how many, but it's surely more than 20 branches. They have normal plain soymilk, but their special soymilk attracted me.
They have
- Ice-fruit soya blended
- J-nutty soya blended: peanut, black sesame, almond
- J-freeze series: dark chocolate, coffee, french vanila, mocha
- Others: Ginger soymilk, soy latte, Grass Jelly, Chocolate soymilk, etc!
Everything with combination of Soymilk. How can i resist the temptation?

In their Ice-fruit soya blended, there are watermelon, banana, papaya, honeydew flavour. Can you imagine a papaya ice-blended with soya? I can't! Hence i decided to try on banana. It tasted special, original and healthy as they use fresh banana. For me, it's a nice combination: Banana+ soya.

This is their J-special! Japanese Azuki Red Bean over Matcha Soymilk! What a nice name ya! This even tasted better! I love this!

Besides special soymilk, they also have lots of pancake choices, which looked quite nice. But the drink attracted me more.

Singapore Food: Chilli Crab

Voted as number 35th of the World's 50 Most Delicious Food, we must give it a try.
Chilli Crab is described as the local bestseller, beating all his fellow friend- salted egg york crab, cheese baked, black pepper crab etc. It's spicy, sloppy, meaty delicacy you must try.
~~source: http://www.cnngo.com/explorations/eat ~~

When we first arrived at the one of the flats in Ang Mo Kio, we were so surprised to see the long queue. This must be super duper delicious! This picture shows only part of the long queue! It was about 6pm and they must have to wait longer for the nice crab. I was very lucky that i skipped the long queue as my relative was there before 5.30pm.

Abundant of choices for different type of cooking crab,

Dang dang dang~~ Here come our long-awaited Chilli Crab! We don't waste the gravy, dipping all with fried bun- mantau.

The salted egg crab,

Made-in-Singapore Herbal tea called Jia Jia,

This restaurant is of course, highly recommended by a lot of local artists.

The artists even put signature on the crab's shell for displaying on the wall.

I love the crab so much. The size is more than 1kg per piece in average. They are imported from Sri Lanka. It's very filling that i was full even i only took 1 side of the claws. Their 8-walking legs have meat too, which we normally can't find in small crab. Thanks to my cousin and in-law for the nice treat!

Singapore Food: NYDC, New York Dessert Cafe

There are a few NYDC branches in Singapore, including: Holland village, Wheelock Place, Velocity, Tampines 1, Bedok Point, and the one i visited is at Bugis Junction.
It's not the brand that attracts me to dine in NYDC New York Dessert Cafe, but the cake displayed outside! They are awesomely tempting!

Mushroom pizza (forgotten the exact name of it),

I have forgotten the name of this too, but i remembered the fresh juicy mushroom taste very well!

My Favourite cheesecake: Goldmine cheesecake,

It's described as New York Cheesecake with chocolate chunks, slathered with irresistible chocolate fudge topping and the Oreo cookie crust! yummy!

I am looking forward to the next visit, especially the Pecan pie, or The Big "O" Cheesecake, or even Goldmine Cheesecake again..!
