Mostly every of us cannot be seperated nowadays from mobile phone for communication, phone's camera, online application, etc. Each day, we can bring to anywhere, anytime. But how many of us wonder before: How heavy is the telephone used during our grandparents time? How big is the size?
It's such a great opportunity to have the chance to see old type of phone used and the telephone history in Malaysia.
Here is the brief history:
1. Morse Code,
Morse Code was established in 1870++ on the completion of the telegraphs submarine cable between Malaysia and Indonesia. In 1879, the service was extended to London from Penang and Malacca.
2. CandleStick Telephone,
Years: 1890 ++ to 1930 ++
3. Ericsson England 332 Mark I,
Year: 1932++
4. Plan Auto 248,
First generation phone used to transfer call between main and extension telephone
Years: 1950++
5. CCB A/B Black Public Phone,
First public telephone in Malaysia, made in UK.
Year: 1960++
6. Ericophone,
A one-piece telephone for space limitation constraint. It was made of thermoplastic, capable of withstanding rough handling and severe climatic conditions.
Year: 1970++
7. Mobira Talkman,
Nokia's first mobile phone in Malaysia.
Year: 1984
8. Ericsson Dotline Pocket,
Ericsson first handheld cellular phone
Year: 1989

9. Water Resistant Phone,
Strong steel cabinet was used to protect the phone from water. It was used at railway, aircraft runway, dams, etc.
Last but not least..
10. FlameProof Telephone,
Fireproof and can withstand explosion. it was normally used in control room in petroleum industry, gas and chemicals, for emergency purpose.
