Shi Fu Wan Tan Mee, Cheras Leisure Mall

Shi Fu Wan Tan Mee 师傅云吞面 is not located inside Cheras Leisure Mall, but it is located at a shop lot near to Cheras Leisure Mall, same row as Mian Dui Mian 面对面 noodle shop Taman Segar.

From outside, it looks like a pure chinese restaurant from China, with heavy Shanghai feel. It is decorated with traditional wooden table and chair, tanglung, and hanging chilli.

I like the Barbecue Meat from this shop. The rice was served with minced meat and also Barbecue meat. We ordered the biggest portion. And it was quite big!

Minced and Barbecue Meat Rice

Oh, finally i found "Sai Yong" here. Sai Yong, (), is the mini Wan Tan noodle, the very famous cuisine that must try in Hong Kong. "Sai Yong" is actually a small bowl of plain egg noodle, with a few dumpling made from fresh prawn. But a small bowl of this noodle suppose to satisfy you because it's a bowl of all essence in one. Like i mentioned in my previous post, i get to know "Sai Yong" (細蓉) Wan Tan noodle from the drama named "You are hired" (絕代商嬌).

Sai Yong, the mini Wan Tan Noodle

This Sai Yong in Shi Fu Wan Tan Mee shop had a very strong soup smell. We actually wanted to order a plate of vegetables that evening. But with the explanation from the worker and the unclear writing on the menu "Sai Yong", we thought it was "Sa Yor" or something else. When the waiter brought us the small bowl of noodle, the strong smell ensured us that we didn't make the wrong order. Yes we must try it! I think the noodle size was even smaller than their normal Wan Tan Mee. And it was actually very Q when biting.

For dessert, we ordered ice cincau. I like this ice ball very much as i don't like other sweet ice ball like ABC Red color sugar. So this tasted just nice for me.

Cincau Ice Ball

Other dishes we ordered are Barbecue meat Wan Tan noodle, and dessert are: Bu Bur Cha Cha and Red Bean Ice ball.

Bubur Cha Cha

This shop has started operation for quite some times. Besides ala-carte, there is also Steamboat served, but i haven't tried it. The price is reasonable and the portion is big. And most important, their chili is special!

Muar Street Food

This is my first time visit to Muar, a small town in Johor. It was my friend's wedding on a Saturday of September. So on Sunday morning, another Muar's friend brought us for breakfast and walking around Muar town.

For breakfast, my friend, Kyi said, we must try all the street food in Muar! So her whole family accompanied us for the breakfast at a food court named Hao Zai Lai (好再来).

Wow this surprised me! The food tasted more than home-cooked food rather than street-food! We ordered all different types of food and all of shared it.

I like this the most, the Char Keow Kak, the fried carrot cake. Our normal Char Keow Kak taste burnt normally, or "Chao Hui Da" and black in color. But this Char Keow Kak, is the best one i ever tried, and i found it in a small town of Muar! Each pieces of the carrot cake seemed to be finely coated with egg. At the bottom, there was a thin layer of sweet sauce tasted like honey. I think the chef must have put in lots of patience in cooking every plate of Char Keow Kak for his customer. Remember you must try this when you visit Muar! I think choosy small kids will like this dish very much!

Char Keow Kak of Muar, the fried Carrot Cake with egg

And the second dish i will highly recommend is, the fried Prawn noodle (虾面). Famous Penang Prawn noodle is cooked in spicy chilly soup. But this Muar Prawn noodle, was fried and it tasted totally different from the soup version. It tasted even nicer when we squeeze the lemon juice on it.

Fried Prawn Noodle of Muar

Muar famous kuih is called Jui Kuih (水粿). I tasted Jui Kuih before at Singapore food court for breakfast. But i didnt know that actually Jui Kuih is from Malaysia! This Jui Kuihwas topped with salted carrot (Chai Bo). It was very Q when biting, leaving the saltiness of Chai Bo in my mouth after eating.

The famous Muar kuih, Jui Kuih

The Curry noodle tasted almost the same as other states, but it was more thick and more "curry".

Muar Curry Noodle

My friend also recommended Mi Pok (). It means thin noodle. It is something like a type of Sarawak noodle. This noodle reminded me of the "Sai Yong (細蓉)" Wan Tan noodle in the drama named "You are hired" (絕代商嬌). "Sai Yong" is described as best Wan Tan noodle in the small bowl. Are they similar? Hmm..

Mee Pok of Muar

After breakfast, we went for a quick-Muar trip, to the main six Muar roads with different color of building: Red, Yellow, Blue, etc. We had the Lai Jui (), thanks for the recommendation Kyi. It tasted sour, i guess we had never see the fresh fruits before. I only remember my mother mentioned before during her youth time, she ate before Jiao Lai and this was the taste she described. I guess this is the fruit! But the uncle who sells Lai Jui didn't bring along his fresh Lai with him that day.

And not only Sai Yong of the drama, on the way to beach, we also found the hole where Mak Tai Song (麥提爽)always use to talk secret! haha..If you watch the TVB drama, you will understand what i mean.
Owh, i found this after one year!

The tree hole Mak Tai Song used to talk secret

Besides food, Muar also produces Namewee and other politicians. Namewee, Wee Meng Chee (黄明志) is the producer of Muar's Mandarin (麻坡的华语), Negarakuku, etc. Recently his famous Malaysian movie Nasi Lemak 2.0 gets good response.

You can visit Muar Facebook for more information about Muar. There is a link of Namewee's video of  Introduction to Muar.

Best Hakka Lui Cha at Taman Paramount

This is my favourite Lui Cha in KL. This stall is operated by an uncle. Previously his stall was located at Chao Yang and recently moved to Taman Paramount a few months ago, a coffee shop near Caltex Taman Paramount.
Hakka Lui Cha is a traditional dish from Hakka. In Mandarin, it is called as 擂茶. It is cooked with tea and different types of green leaves. Hakka takes Lui Cha during winter time for the warmth.

Look at the Lui Cha, uncle put in different types of vegetables, peanut, dried prawn, hard taufu, sesame, etc..

Ho Po Hakka Lui Cha

I love the "Mani cai" the most! I think the vegetables is called "Manis" in Malay, but i called it as "Money" Vege!

The green soup doesn't taste nice for beginner. But once you start drinking, i bet you will love that if you love vegetables and tea! It is supposed to mix the soup with the rice. But i don't like it. I like drinking the soup seperately. If you like drinking the soup, you can ask the uncle for refill!

One thing nice about this Hakka Lui Cha is that, i can choose other types of rice instead of white rice. I think it's red rice, healthy and yummy!

Brown/ Red Rice Ho Po Lui Cha

Obviously if you are a meat lover, you will not like this. There is no meat except the dried prawn.

Besides Hakka Lui Cha, other food here is nice too. This Spicy Wan Tan Mee or Ma Lak Wan Tan Mee is presented nice. The sauce looks spicy!

The traditional white coffee tasted KaooooOO.

White Coffee
The Otak- otak, is made by an old aunty. It tasted a bit different from Penang Otak- otak. But overall it's yummy. With lots of fish fillet, it is sold at very cheap price.

Otak- otak
The restaurant is located quite near to a Caltex in Taman Paramount, and it's also quite near to the Giant Taman Paramount. There are in total 3 coffee shops for lunch in that area. And this coffee shop is named Restaurant Millennium Eighty Six.

2nd Malaysia Cocoa and Chocolate Fair, Mid Valley

Malaysia Cocoa and Chocolate Day for everyone -free admission, was held again on 7th to 9th October in Mid Valley Megamall. This is a great chance for you to know more chocolate maker/ factories especially in Malaysia.
The First Malaysia Cocoa and Chocolate Day was held on 15th to 17th October 2010 in Mid Valley Megamall too. To read more about the First Malaysia Cocoa and Chocolate Day, click here.

This year, the exhibition area was smaller, but the products displayed, for me, were better.
It was held concurrently with KLPF 2011, Kuala Lumpur Photography Festival 2011. Their website: www.klpf.com.my
Compare to Malaysia Cocoa and Chocolate Fair, Kuala Lumpur Photography Festival had more visitors and media press. I guess that's because of more happening and more "hot girls"!
Anyone who is interested shouldn't miss the next photography festival, don't misunderstand, i mean interested in getting professional camera sets at promotional package, k..!!

However, I am a chocolate lover, so i headed to the Malaysia Cocoa and Chocolate Day first.

There was a booth for Raw Cocoa fruit free tasting. Believed it or not, it's sour before processing into chocolate!

Another stall gave out free hot Chocolate drink! Delfi Chocolate. It tasted very yummy. But the product is not in the market yet! The promoter mentioned that the Delfi Cocoa powder will only be available in Malaysia market the next year, most probably in January 2012.

Finely made Chocolate from Delfi

So they treated me a freshly made chocolate cake, fresh from the oven. It looked like Coeur Fondant, a type of French dessert. It didn't look that tempting, but i believe, the cocoa powder perfect everything.
Coeur Fondant means melted heart in french. It is normally called as Molten Chocolate Cake.
They served the chocolate cake with Blueberry sauce. But i prefer the taste without blueberry. The hot chocolate just melted in my mouth, yummy yummy!

This small slice of chocolate was nice too. It's soft, a little cold as it's just out of fridge, coated with cocoa powder.

The new item this year, the Hottest Angry Bird! Erm, angry bird is printed on chocolate so that you can eat them when you are angry? This is an innovative business owner!

There was a booth at the far end from Lembaga Koko, selling food such as: Cakes, Waffles, chocolate drinks, etc named Koko Bistro.
This booth was not crowded, maybe they didn't give free sampling. But the food served was excellent.
Oh for sure i can't resist the temptation. I bought a piece of Tiramishu. It's nicely presented, except the plate.
It's only cost at RM7 per piece! This is the best Tiramishu for the year! I never regret buying this.
And, it's accompanied by a piece of dark chocolate!
